Today Is The Time For a NEW START

Exodus 3:1-6

As we get ready to read our Scripture for this first Lord’s Day of the New Year, we need to see that Moses fled into the wilderness after he took another man’s life. God appears in the form of a burning bush and gives him another chance to be His instrument in God’s Kingdom work, after 40 years in the wilderness. I think as we open the pages of a New Year, we can all identify with being stuck in the wilderness of poor decisions.

Because we are on the subject of NEW STARTS, I think it is important that we see that God meets Moses on this very mountain with two new starts. One for him personally and the other for the nation the Lord gave him to shepherd through the wilderness as He gives him the TEN COMMANDMENTS IN THIS SAME SPOT.

As we stand on the brink of a new year, we all have to answer the question as we think about what lies ahead: have I heard the voice from my own burning heart and answered, “Here I am”.

It is so easy in this world to lose sight of the truth that the God we come into the presence of every time we pray is Holy, and our prayers and worship put us on Holy ground. Don’t lose your awe of our Holy God, who is offering you this second chance to find, joy and peace, but above all purpose in not only this year ahead, but all the years ahead.

Is it time for you to get on with God’s plan for you even if you are not sure you can do it.  Maybe you have to stop wandering in your own desert and plans and get back the joy and satisfaction of living for the God Who has called out.

I do not know what the new year holds for me and mine, but I know that when all is said and done, I too shall worship God at this mountain.  After all life throws at us, worship of the One True God of the Bible is where we find our strength and balance.
