The Upper Room Promise: “Because He Lives “
John 14:19
When I read this one Scripture my heart sores because it calls my mind and heart back to one of my favorite Hymns “Because He Lives.” God sent His Son; they called Him Jesus. He came to love, heal, and forgive. He lived and died to buy my pardon. As we hear and sing this song please pay attrition to the chores.
When I think of this song when I remember the words, my heart is almost forced to get into my Thanksgiving Mode.
Last week I preached about the indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit. John 14:17 (NASB77)
17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you.
I have come to the understanding that it is our doctrinal familiarity with this truth that prevents us from appreciating its full blessing and its very vastness and enormous extent. because I live, you shall live also. Do not miss the FOREVER part.
John 14:16 (NASB77) 16“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;”
I think that Bro Paul brings this truth off the top self, down to wording all of us can understand and then be thankful for.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NASB77) 19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
WOW, is this not a huge eye opener, not only does God desire to live in your heart, but when you accept Him your body is His temple.
but you will behold Me; We need the Lord’s abiding presence for the simple but sublime reason that Christianity is Christ. When we call ourselves Christians, we are saying we are Christ Like. Because I live, you shall live also. Are you living Christ??? That is the question that when answered in the positive gives life meaning.
How many of us as Christians need to find our joy in our salvation. His presence in this life and the next gives me freedom to live life to its fullest. Let Christ have Lordship and you will find joy in this life, you do not have to wait to die to know your Lord God, and to come into His presence.
I go to prepare a place for you – Let this sink into seeing the world and all its wonders, as it was made by the hand of the Lord in just 6 days. Oh, how glorious and wonderful Heaven must be!
